Josh Martin, LMHC, completed his undergraduate degree in Community and Human Services at SUNY Empire State College. He obtained a Master of Science in Education in College Student Services Administration and his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Mental Health Counseling from The College of Saint Rose.
Prior to joining the practice at ECS Psychological Services, Josh worked in local colleges for over 15 years providing services to college students of all ages and backgrounds.
Josh has experience working with individuals recovering from substance abuse disorders, major life transitions, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
Josh has a natural curiosity to learn all there is to know about growth and development within the field of behavioral health. He is eager to learn new theories and techniques that are needed to help individuals achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
Josh is “surprisingly good at cooking and baking,” and he thoroughly enjoys it! He feels this hobby also plays into his passion for learning in that there are always new recipes or techniques to master.
Aside from learning the knowledge and skills necessary to practice in the field, Josh believes that his education and personal experiences provide him with ways in which to engage with the individuals he works with.
Josh attributes his “education and personal experiences become a well to draw from, whether that’s using examples from history or literature, hockey or martial arts, or my own academic, personal, or professional comedies and tragedies to illustrate a concept or relate to where someone is coming from.”
