Services for Children

ECS Psychological Services, P.C. provides treatment for children that have difficulties with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Trauma (physical, emotional or sexual)
  • Asperger’s/Autism
  • Divorce
  • Bullying
  • Social skill deficits
  • Learning difficulties, and
  • Behavior problems
Various approaches are used including art therapy, play therapy, individual and family therapy as well as joint sibling counseling.  Many children are affected by depression, anxiety, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, etc.  These issues and other childhood difficulties impact areas of their life such as their social skills, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, school functioning and family functioning.  Often times in children, typical symptoms might include anger and irritability, school difficulties, physical complaints, separation anxiety, lethargy and sleep problems. Other children may present without a clear diagnosis but are struggling with issues such as bullying, peer pressure, academic pressure, and stress within the family system.

Treatment can provide children the opportunity to expand their coping strategies to manage these pressures.  These issues, if not addressed, can progress into larger problems as the child ages. Clinicians at ECS Psychological Services are trained to treat children from preschool through adolescence.  It is our goal to help children feel comfortable and enjoy their time with us. With younger children, therapy may have a more fantasy based play focus, while with older children more structured games or art may be utilized.  Each child is treated individually with the techniques they will best respond to.  Families are included and an important component to successful treatment.  Collaboration with the child’s pediatrician and/or school is also offered.
