Fertility Related Services
ECS Psychological Services offers counseling specifically related to infertility including emotional support, useful coping skills, as well as guidance with exploring questions pertaining to the fertility process. Many individuals and couples undergoing fertility treatment report feeling alone in the process. At ECS Psychological Services, therapy is open to both male and female individuals, as well as couples. These services focus on the complex emotions that exist while making decisions on future courses of treatment (i.e.: IUI, IVF, and oocyte/sperm donation). Additionally, when needed, an individual or couple can learn stress management techniques useful while undergoing treatment procedures. Throughout the process of fertility treatments, individuals often experience a wide range of emotions due to the unpredictability of the outcome, the usage of fertility medications, and the changes in ones hormonal status. This may often contribute to feelings of anxiousness throughout the course of treatment.
Our facility also provides psychological evaluations in the event that oocyte and/or sperm donation is being pursued for both recipients, as well as donors. These evaluations provide a thorough gathering of background history for both the individual and their family, in relation to medical and psychological needs. In addition, this assessment assists all parties involved with exploring future questions that may arise in regards to the decision to utilize donor oocyte or sperm tissue.
